Description
The appalling carbon footprint of new-build neighbourhoods due to newly created traffic flows and a high rate of land usage/sealing means that a new approach to planning these neighbourhoods is required. Mobility concepts are needed to create sustainable transport both in and around the area, making a significant impact on the carbon footprint of new-build neighbourhoods. But what do these kinds of concepts need to look like? How do mobility needs and solutions relate to one another? How can ecology and the sociodemographic environment be taken into consideration? The answers to these questions are already out there – in Germany and abroad, in towns and cities, on former barracks, in open countryside and on brownfield sites. These selected new-build projects, which are early adopters of an integrative approach to mobility, are being examined both from an advisory perspective and from a mobility planning perspective on a municipal level. Presentations held by Julia Korsten and Luise Schnell (stattbau münchen) and Hanna Wagener (Mobilitätsamt Darmstadt).
