Europes first teasting area for Hyperloops takes form
Whether we will really be travelling at the speed of sound through magnetic tube systems in the future is still uncertain today. The European Hyperloop Centre is now doing everything in its power to test the futuristic idea, which has so far been the preserve of the East Asian and US tech world, on European soil: In Veendam near Groningen in the Netherlands, the continent's first long Hyperloop test track will be completed in spring 2024. What the Technical University of Munich tested last summer at 24 metres is now being extended to 420 metres - initially at speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour. People are not yet to be transported; at this stage, it is more a question of general roadworthiness. The project is being financed by 25 commercial and public partners, including the EU.
