The Berlin start-up Vay has launched its first commercial mobility service with remote-controlled electric cars in Las Vegas. Users can use the Vay app to order a vehicle that is controlled remotely by professional teledrivers and drives directly to the desired address. Customers then take over the journey themselves. After use, there is no need to park, as the teledrivers take over the vehicle again.

The service is aimed at urban users and offers a cost-effective alternative with prices of 0.30 dollars per minute of driving. Stopovers are charged at 0.03 dollars per minute.

Vay describes its teledriving technology as a practical bridge between conventional driving and autonomous mobility solutions. Following the successful launch in the USA, the company is planning to expand to Germany, but is still in the approval process.
