About Prof. Dr. Johannes Busmann
Johannes Busmann studied art, music and philosophy. As an art history assistant, he completed his doctorate in architectural history at the University of Wuppertal in 1993 on the subject of "Die revidierte Modern: The architect Alfons Leitl 1909 - 1975". In 2005, he was appointed Professor of Media Design and its Didactics. He is Chairman of the Doctoral Committee of the Faculty of Design and Art and Head of the Department of Art and Media Design at the University of Wuppertal. As department spokesman, he is responsible for the establishment and accreditation of the Master's degree course in Public Interest Design.
In 1990, Johannes Busmann founded the magazine polis, which focused on architecture, urban planning and monument preservation, and the publishing house Müller + Busmann, which specializes in architecture and urban development. Today, the magazine is published nationwide and accompanies urban developments in the context of civic authorship, municipal planning sovereignty and real estate innovations. Since 2015, the polis Convention, an annual trade fair and specialist congress, has complemented the discourse on urban development. As part of the publishing house, he supports and advises institutions, local authorities and companies on urban and regional development projects.
Johannes Busmann has been a member of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning since 2002. From 2005 to 2016, he was a trustee of the Carl Richard Montag Foundation.
